Southern House of the Year

Southern House of the Year

It was a successful night at the 2024 Master Builders House of the Year awards.

The Brick House was acknowledged with a Gold Award - this is the highest recognition that can be given to a house entered into the awards. The judging criteria are both extensive and strict, so for a home to reach this standard is a mark of exceptional quality. We are extremely proud of our team for the outstanding workmanship on what was a very technical and detailed build. The judges described the house as "understated elegance combined with top-drawer craftsmanship at every turn."

The house - which is certified Passive House - was also awarded the Lifestyle award for Sustainability and Environmental Excellence. Alongside the certification many decisions were made to minimise the environmental impact of the building, including a timber subfloor, recycled clay brick exterior, Abodo timber linings, and a strong focus on onsite recycling.

Lifestyle awards are given to homes which demonstrate the upmost dedication to meeting the clients vision and functional requirements. In the case of the Brick House, the brief was clear from the outset - minimal environmental impact, low embodied carbon and low operational carbon - alongside beautiful architecture. We worked closely with Rafe Maclean Architects from the outset, and throughout the project. The lifestyle award is testament to the range of expertise and open communication brought into into the project from the beginning.
